A Letter from David & Heather
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We are high school sweethearts who have always dreamed of having a family together. We’re excited to share our experiences with martial arts, family day trips, and our love for music and nature with your child. We have a lot of love to give and we are excited to offer it to your child. We are open to sharing pictures, updates, and having visits.
We met in high school and have now been together for 26 years and married for 18 years. After over a decade of infertility, we are excited to follow God’s calling and grow our family through the joy of adoption! Our marriage is Christ-centered and will provide your child with a stable, loving, and supportive foundation for them to grow in. Day trips, family time, and our passion for spending time in nature, martial arts, baking, Puerto Rican cooking, and photography will be a big part of your child’s life.
From the time I first met Heather, it was her gentle spirit that attracted me to her. She has such a tender heart that is full of love to give. She makes those around her feel comfortable and loved and her skills along with her genuine care for others makes her an amazing licensed massage therapist. When not working with others, Heather loves to be in the great outdoors enjoying everything from flowers to sunsets, dogs, and watching silly animal videos. One of her favorite places to be is on the beach and I know she is excited to share her love of the water with your child.
David is one of the most committed, dedicated, and hardworking people I know. That is one of the things I love most about him. If he says he is going to do something, he is going to do it, all in! David is an administrator at a local school where he has taught for nine years. He loves helping other teachers and students reach their full potential in and out of the classroom. He also loves to share his passion for photography with the students which is why he is now the proud leader of the photography club. David also enjoys practicing his skills in martial arts and teaching students ages 5-12. He has been training for well over a decade and is currently a fourth-degree black belt. He is excited to share these passions with your child.
We have a large extended family all of whom are excited to welcome your child into the family. They’re already making plans for visits and family adventures! Heather’s family lives about 5 hours away and David’s family lives a couple of hours away. We enjoy extended weekend visits and longer summer, Thanksgiving and Christmas visits together. David’s mother loves to teach her grandchildren how to make empanadas and other Puerto Rican foods while Heather’s mom is known for her homemade sauce, gnocchi, and Christmas cookies. Italian and Puerto Rican cooking is a big part of our family. Both of our moms are excited to pass down these traditions to your child!
We live in a lovely 3 bedroom townhome that leads right into our open backyard. Our home receives tons of natural light because of our large windows. The whole place always feel very comfy and airy. From the sunroom we can see the sunrise every morning. We are located in one of the best school districts around and we sit in close proximity to plenty of farms, parks, playgrounds, trails. We love where we live because it is close enough to town while allowing us to still enjoy the quiet, greenery, and open space all around us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We are committed to providing a positive, loving, and nurturing home in which your child will grow into the person they were made to be. We promise to support them in all that they do and provide them with every opportunity to grow and learn. We look forward to speaking with you and keeping in contact however you are most comfortable. We know God is going to hand-select the perfect match for us. We hope you will take some time to prayerfully consider if we are the best match for you and your child. |More About Our Family|
Our Special Interests
David has been training in martial arts for well over a decade. He currently teaches a class of children ages 5-12. No one is sure who has more fun in that class, David or the students! Although Heather doesn't train, she loves supporting him and watching him train and compete. Our karate family is already shopping for baby karate uniforms! David is also an avid photographer. Family is his greatest subject. David and Heather both look forward to capturing those special moments with your child that seem to go by in a flash, preserving them to be enjoyed over and over again.
Heather adores dogs! She enjoys taking our dog for walks and watching funny dog videos. Heather is excited to share her passion for flowers and animals with your child. Family trips to local gardens and gathering fresh flowers to enjoy at home will be a family pastime. Heather enjoys baking and cooking Puerto Rican foods she learned from David's mom. Christmas cookies will be a family tradition and empanadas and tostones will be a regular part of family gatherings as well. Crimping the sides of the empanadas and flattening the tostones will be your child's special contribution to the family meal.
We were both raised in Christian homes and accepted Jesus at early ages. We do our best to live our lives to reflect His love, His grace, and His salvation. We are both active in our church. David is head of the Safety and Security Team and is a Spiritual Coach. Heather volunteers in the nursery and is on the prayer team. We have been a part of our current church for 13 years. Prior to that, we attended a church in the city for about 7 years where we served in the Children's Ministry, Heather was on the worship team, and David was a sound engineer.
Our Musical Interest
We LOVE music. We were part of the school chorus and choir throughout their elementary and high school careers. Heather also sang in her college gospel choir and even did a tour with the choir in Africa. There is often music playing in our home as we are cooking, reading, working on our to-do lists, cleaning and so on. David has always been a collector of music, all different genres. He had cases and cases of tapes, and CD's, and then there were thousands of songs on his iPod, computer, and other devices. It is something that seems innate in us, that speaks to our souls. We also enjoy going to see live music as well as dance productions and live theater.
About Our Home
We have a 3 bedroom townhome with a walkout basement into the backyard. This leads out to an even larger open green space where we often see neighborhood kids playing pick up games. There are a lot of large tall windows allowing for a lot of natural light to come in. We have a semi-open floor plan, so it feels very welcoming and airy. One of our favorite spots in the house is the sunroom, right off the kitchen. The sun rises on this side of the house, so we get to see the sunrise every morning.
Our development has a large number of homes in it, many with children, it is in one of the most sought after school districts in our area, and is close to farms, parks, trails, and shopping. There are also two playgrounds in our development that are great for bringing kids to play. We love where we live because it is close enough to the conveniences and necessities of everyday life, all the while still getting to enjoy the quietness, greenery, and open space all around us.
We live in the state of Pennsylvania
David grew up in an urban area in northern New Jersey. Heather moved quite a bit growing up due to her dad's job with the Salvation Army but spent most of her life in New York State. Now they enjoy living in a lush, green suburb with beautiful parks and places to walk and drive, and simply enjoy nature, all while still being close enough to the conveniences of a larger city.
We live in a townhome development with many families. When the weather is nice we like to open the windows and listen to the children playing in the open space behind our home. David and Heather regularly see several couples and families walking their dogs or taking their babies out in the stroller. There are two playgrounds the neighborhood kids use often. We look forward to using them to one day, with your little one. Several kids ride around the neighborhood on their bikes or scooters and we often see families pulling their little ones in wagons, riding bikes together, or taking family walks together.
